Day one concluded with an 18 km walk around Perth, having gotten lost while exploring on foot. We discovered Elizabeth Quay, and Stirling Gardens, after walking along the Swan river from our hotel, the Pan Pacific Perth , as well as the shopping area, before taking the CAT bus to the university campus. It was a nice cool day, totally expected seeing that it was winter, and there were many joggers and cyclists along the path. Definitely a nice welcome to Perth.
We eventually found ourselves at the Elizabeth Quay bus station, and the purple CAT bus to take us to the University of Western Australia, our main reason for visiting Perth.
I can't get over how green the campus is. It's so serene, and one can't help but be inspired to study. I was tempted to enrol in a course myself. Of course my son was less than enthused about it.
Next , Stirling gardens. At. this point we didn't know how to get back to our hotel by bus, so we walked from Elizabeth Quay, passing by the gardens and the kangaroo statues.
By the time we reached the hotel, we were knackered. After a shower and dinner from room service, we hit the sack and slept fitfully till morning.
